Hi! Tuff, first of all you must be a finacial member of an MA affiliated club, then the club secretary will issue you with an endorsed licence application form which along with the appropiate fee`s and photographs you forward to your local state controlling body ( MNSW in your case ) now comes the tricky bit some SCB`s only require a basic race rules knowledge test ( done over the phone with an open book ) but some others now require a more involved competency test ( this is the future ) so you will need to check with MNSW about what they require, that is if you are over 16 and are appling for a senior licence if you are a junior you will need to still be financial with an affiliate but you will require the kickstart book and 5 hrs of coaching from an accredited MA junior coach and send all that information along with the appropriate fee`s to MNSW.

It's pretty easy really, start by joining a club affilliated with your SCB
and then they can provide you with a stamped licence application form.
Complete this form and send it off to SCB ( ? MNSW), in Vic. it then
involves a test over the phone and your done.

Hang on how long has this club been around?

Why no state series?

why no Juniors?

Should you call yourself NSW quad bike club ?

Tell me to pull my head in but ?

Huskygoat, I could be wrong but I'm led to believe there are no juniors
because the insurance for MNSW is provided by the govt. and they are apparently addament that there will never be any junior atv racing due to it being "too dangerous"
If the experience of QRCV trying to liase with our state govt. regarding rec reg. is anything to go by NSW will have to dig in and be prepared for a long drawn out battle, if they have people to fight such a battle

For the growth of our great sport I hope they are able to work toward this, good luck.

Cheers Deano

This link answers most of your questions about getting your licence for the first time: http://www.motorcycling.com.au/pg_disp.asp?page=p04

Since when has the NSW Govt provided insurance??? I was pretty sure MA negotiated the insurance for all SCBs so that every state was covered by the same insurer, this provides the biggest member base to help negotiate the cheapest rate with a provider.

Each state runs under the same set of GCRs so I don't see how they could deny juniors from riding quads in NSW. If that's the case then that rules out NSW ever hosting a National MX. I thought it might have come down to more of a track licencing issue in NSW from past memory, that few clubs were prepared to get their tracks licenced for quads simply because majority of the members/committee don't want them there.
