Can anyone help please ?

I have a stock 04 660 Raptor.
I went for a ride this morning and developed a noise in the motor, sounds like a very "tinny" rattle at around mid rev in each gear, doesn't do it down low and goes away high up in the rev range. Similar to a loose heat shield on the exhaust, but unfortunately it's not that they are tight.
When I pulled up to check if anything was loose, I noticed when I restarted in neutral, the Reverse light begun to flash.
We had done a creek crossing (just over nerf bar height deep) 5 mins prior to all this, maybe this has something to do with it ???
I turned the bike off imediately, re- checked both oil and coolant levels, all OK . Rode the 8 kms back to the car and the light never flashed again, and the noise would be there sometimes and then other times it was quiet as normal. This new noise was/ is definetly not there all the time. The bike still runs and pulls hard with or with out this noise. The oil is new and has around 2 hrs running time. A full synthetic Shell type.
Any other riders had this or better still know what may be happening ?
Is the flashing light a warning/ fault code light ?

Any advice appreciated. No thanks I don't want to trade it on a .............. laughing laughing

Check out this post, may have something to do with the light flashing... Confused

Doubt whether this hs to do with the engine noise though, may be a coincidence ?

All I know about it, may need to check your service manual, may be point in the right direction....if you don't have one, search this site for manuals, it can tell you where to download one from.... Wink

my '08 developed a similar noise whilst racing on the weekend, I checked all skid plates etc, found it to be the join in the exhaust where the motoworks slip on meets the headers, feels tight and everything but when it got hot it expanded different to the headers and developed a rattle/vibration at certain rpm.

Yours may be different all together but i thought this may help a bit..

Thanks for the replies fellas.
I googled the flashing light thing and came across a few different forums from around the world and all led to it being reved (for the same amount of ''highish'' revs) for longer than 10 sec while sitting in Neutral. This was done while we where in the middle of now where trying to find where the noise was. It certainly wasnt held on the limiter and was no longer than 15 to 20 sec, so Im guessing they are right, because it hasn't flashed again ( although I havent tried to find this rattle again ).
I will take the plastics off on the weekend and go over everything.
Cheers, Kymanic. Wink

Had the same problem once and was told it had to do with the speed sensor for reverse that stops you over revving. it is also the same one that works when the park brake is on. sometimes it gets dirty and play s up.
hope that was some help.
