now just as i was thinkin maybe i should put a rag in that hole, bam! down goes the circlip into the bottom on the engine.

what is the best way to get the clip out? old oil is still in the bottom of the crankcase, and engine is still in the frame. i tried fishing around with the magnet but no luck so far,

ideas anyone?

thanks,
james

take the engine out and tip it upside down!

as you have now found out, rebuilding your engine with it still in the frame is like doing a sh*t without taking your pants off: its quicker and easier to start with, but its gonna be a long and messy clean up!

haha it only takes half an hour to whip the engine out of the ol banshee, i would imagine it being even easier and quicker with the 450!

Are you dead sure it went in the case.
Check the floor for a hundred miles before you kill yourself.
Then i'd keep fishing with the magnet.

Don't you just love that little ping sound that circlips make as they fly across the workshop and silently land somewhere in a pile of junk.

remember... the main thing is, You are doing something you love and you are enjoying yourself laughing

i was going to post something here, but i've got sooooooooo many lost circlip stories , i couldn't pick the best one, and to tell them all would wear out the only finger i've trained successfully to type

You're a classic Kev.

No wonder you keep losing circlips, if only one of your fingers is just smart enough to type. laughing

Try blowing it out with compressed air ( that`s what most mechanics would try first ,but be sure to have all the other holes covered with shop rags ect first )

He got it out fellas. Took the engine out of the frame & turned her upside down & the little bludger fell straight out.
