i run outerwear cover on mine & found less crap in airbox than with stock lid on - no problems here.
have you got a fuel controller on that setup?

Nice job. A mob in the US charge >$80 for a similar setup.
Is the Outerwear also glued to your alloy frame?

what sort of gains are you expecting from it... power or just running a lot better. Will it affect the injection black box thingy or will it adjust it self automatically. Confused

Nice job Barry. Modified my airbox lid exactly the same way based on the EHS racing lid, except I used a poly gasket from one of our local pool suppliers and flush mounted allen key bolts to secure the outerwears filter. I still find that the bike runs better without the lid on though and ride without it most of the time.

Better make sure that your seat cover is waterproof, Take off the seat and have a look where the holes are in the hard plastic frame, Right above the lid, I had problems with an aftermarket seat cover and a airbox lid, water went straight through and onto the filter... Sad

Doorslamer. have you got a 700 as well or somthing diffrent ? i can make the frame in steel and have it powder coated for $20. but the outer wear cost me $60 Surprised and then you would need the price of post on top to..or i could make the frame ,powder coat and supply the ALLEN KEY BOLTS/nyloc nuts and washers and send it to you and you fit it your self ..if you are intrested let me know Smile

Slammer,
This is the link for the EHS racing lid price list. They have the kits available to fit yourself or you can buy the complete lid with the filter mods installed direct from them. Most U.S atv outlets will have these available also and the prices vary little between them.

The outerwears cover is a good product and I don't remember anybody saying to stay away from them. I bought the outerwears cover from Quad Squad earlier this year in preparation for the wet season as I usually run with the lid off. I fitted the cover without removing the airbox and did a pretty crappy job securing the velcro tabs. As a result the velcro tabs would lift off mid ride and the cover wouldn't seal properly. This wasn't a problem with the cover, just me being lazy. I converted the air box lid to give me the best of both worlds and now I cannot tell the difference between lid on or lid off.

GYTR raptor - Are you going to block the original air intake on the lid?

I'm in the process of making a similar lid to yours but I want to fabricate a blocker for the original air inlet.

It's a great idea for the dunes as it reduces the chances of sand getting to your air filter.

BIGJON ...I have left that hole open due to if you go some were real dusty or mudy the outer wear "mite " get bocked up and resrict the air intake somewhat.

TODD 700.. i have been told by a few bike shops that the velcro strips keep loosing there stickyness and they are knowen for coming off and they only get worse as time goes on...this is the info i was given from 2 of the 3 bike shops i have asked about the outerwear lid.. so i had taken there advice..

I run outerwear covers - no lid on raptor & blaster and find less sand/dirt in airbox than running with lid on & open intake.

If tape on velcro lets go use a CA glue to stick new velcro on - fixed.
