I'm relatively new to the quad scene and had a bit of a spill on a steep incline dune today-the bike rolled twice & landed upright.
When i've done this on two wheels it's usually the bars that need replaced, but on further inspection at home, the horizontal plate that connects the bar clamps on the steering shaft looks bent to me.
Is this common damage for quads,or is it usually the bars that cop the bend-sorry i'm a bit vague about the technical terms for components-newbie.
Normally i'd go straight to the local kawasaki stealer for advice, but don't want ripped off..
I'll attach some pics in the morning if this helps
Thanks in advance

I've got one of these pulled apart in the shed at the moment. The Kawi stem is the cheapest piece of junk I've ever seen and will bend if you sneaze on it. I am straightening the plate and welding some small gussets on each side to add a little support as the owner is only a trail rider and doesn't want to spend too much $$$ buying something stronger. _________________ DNA ATV Racing 09 KTM300EXC |

Have a crack at bending it back for now.
It will bend easier next time, so use your spare time between crashes to find a better alternative.
WAT4 will probably need something before you do, so let him do the hard yards and find a replacement _________________ Can-Am X Team

Thanks guys, yeah had another look this morning,it is the plate that is bent.
Typical kawasaki-they put renthal twin wall bars on, then connect it to cheap and nasty metal.
The motor is fantastic,as is the fuel injection, but some of the steering/suspension components are junk.
Same as my little ones kdx50-good motor,crap suspension/frame |

Had a mate that just bought a new kx250f and after a small off the bolt holding the bar clamps is bent, same as above, why put renthal bars on and then a weak little bolt that costs $80 to get fixed at the dealer.. _________________ Andrew |
