there is an rd350 engine that doesnt have powervalves.

what year is the motor nick? is it a pre 83 RD, or post 83 rdlc/rz?

if its pre 83 im not sure that the powervalve top end will go on it...

so it has YPVS?

99% sure that the 350 top end will go straight on, you'll also need the 350 oil pump and gear drive. oh yeah im guessing you would want some better carbs too.

fortunately for you, you already have all the ypvs electrics in place, which is the only headache in converting a banshee to YPVS.

www.yamaha-rd.com is a good forum to ask questions if you get into trouble, so is www.rzrd500.com

hey mate if its an r1z u have u cannot convert to 350..r1z shared the same engine as a tzr250 race bike the barrels will be stamped 3xc...they have power valves but are only in 250s..and they r crank case inducted if it is an rz250 the barrels will say 29L i have a set of rz350 barrels if u need them,, but im thinkin u have the wrong bike.
this is an rz250 http://www.mark1motorcycles.co.uk/RZ250_l-h.JPG
this is a r1z250 http://www.ysp-nww.com/cgi/used/img/20060122170543.jpg
let me know what u have...

well like i said the r1z barrels are crank case inducted that means that the carbs come straight out of the crank cases as apposed to the barrel like rz,
now the good news is this..a r1z shares the same engine as a tzr 2ma but i think has been detuned some where maybe in the cdi but the engines are the same close ratio gear box huge yz250 reed cages..the tzr was a road going tz in the 80s..full alloy frame and stuff any way they make really good power i own one and it would be in the mid 50hpr which is the same as an rz350 any how..it just doesnt have the torque of the 350 i had a ride club ride about a month ago..and my lil tzr left rz500 bhind..more down to handling then power..but the power is there..but yes if u got chambers and find out excactly ow it differs from the tzr ..u would have a great lil engine
there is how ever another option....a dt125 is basically a single cylinder tzr..it is possible to fit 2 dt200 barrels to your engine they have a different stroke which makes ur engine a 350 this has been done b4 but its not a bolt on job..there is a bit of messin around..i looked into doing it my self at one stage
also athena make a after market barrel for trz125 to 175 theses can be also made to fit but are very expensive..
where abouts r u ...let me know if u need any help..i have been ridding and building road 2 strokes for about 12yrs mostly yam stuff..if u need to call 0406726252 justin..
