Hoping to get some good advice regarding aproblem I am having.

Firstly my issue, I’m 51 yrs old, though I am finding riding my quad hard and fast (700Raptor) around our tracks is murdering my right elbow.

Seems its being caused by the predominance of bumpy, fast, right hand corners, on our quad track, where my right arm is both absorbing the impacts of the bumps and at the same time is flexing while I control the throttle and push the bar forward as the quad comes out of the slide.

I’ve seen reference to ‘flex’ type handle bars and also steering dampeners on various quad forums, so my questions are, would a flex type bar + dampener help to reduce the impacts on my elbows.

If so, are there any you could recommend for the 700r, I’d hope the bars would be simple swap out item, not needing further changes to anything on the stock bars.

If not, could anyone offer an other ideas, note slowing down is not an option lol.

a steering damper will make the world of difference, and the rotary type lik e the precision will be better again and well worth the extra money over the rod-type

the flexx bars are a 1 1/8" O.D compared the standards bars having a 7/8" O.D, so you will need a set of "fat" bar adaptors if you wanted to run the flexx bars

the flexx bars arent cheap either, so it would leave a big dent in your bank account if you did the damper and bars all in one go

I agree, talk to Izzy he has helped me out with all my suspension. I am currently waiting on the new Elka system 5 damper to arrive from him. You could also consider getting your YFZ shocks re-valved by him to make your ride a bit smother.

I agree on a rotary style one over a rod one if you've got the bucks. I'm hanging out at the moment for the new Elka ones to get here as I'm getting one for evaluation.

I'm also working on a low mount to suit the ohlins rotary type damper for my YFZ at the moment too once I'm done with it i'll be looking at stting it up for other models too.

trying a different bend of bars may help your prob with out going for the full flex kind of setup.

I checked out one of the MSC DAMPERS today and they look sweet.

It has 3 mode settings and 8 damper adjustments

Yep the new MSC's look pretty good. Gotta make sure you use lots of loctite on the little tie rod bolts though.

Trying different bars with even slightly different angles may help a bit, and they'll be cheap.
The rotary type damper would definately be the go if you've got the bucks. It will do more than just help fatigue type strain, it might also save you an elbow if you take out a tree stump or something.
To answer your original question... Rubber mounted or flex bars do work. They knock out lots of vibration and allow you to relax to the bars a bit better. If riding really corrugated stuff these are great. having said that, I went back to solid mounts because i found the rubbery conection type feel a bit to vague for dodging trees in forrest riding etc.
If your elbow is really bad... I'd do the rotery damper and rubber mounted.

heb ive got a msc rotery style dampner on my yfz and it is the best thing for sore arms ,, now to work on the rest of my body lol the best thing about it is that in one of the modes you can what ever level of dampening you want on the turn but none on the return , or half on the return ar all on the return ,, really well made thing with excellent back up,, you send the thing back once a year with a self addresed pre paid envolope and they service it for ya for free

Probalby will go with the non-rotary units, simply based on price.

Just gotta wait for my arm to heal and fix up the rear frame.

Next time I fall off will try not to land on my arms/hands
