ATV Action Issue #4 2006 has some good pics and tips on how to build a backyard track.
My advise would be ride it as you build it. You will change things around as you go and it is handy to make corrections while the machine is still there. See if you can dry hire the machine so that you are only paying for machine hours while the engine is running. I spent nearly as much time on the Quad as in the loader.
Make sure you cant clear any of your jumps on the first day, you'll get bored real quick if you can.
when your done... invite us all over. _________________ Can-Am X Team

www.dirtwurx.com make the US SX tracks and have track building tips on their site, have track layouts, distances etc
Does anyone have freestyle ramp plans they'd care to share. Got some boys that want to build one with me to go with my track at home. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

If your going to mainly use it for quads, build a few step ups. I find them really nice to jump and you can make them pretty much as big as you like. Also put in a double table top, say 50ft then down ramp, about 20 foot of flat the another 30 foot. Should end up with a jump distance of 100-120 foot if any one wanted to do it and 2 nice table tops if they dont.
Table tops are good, you can build em big and the guys don't have to clear them like normal doubles or triples until they feel confident. |
