 |

As a newbie to quads and this forum 1 of the first things I've noticed is the common thread of lack of riding areas and genuine racing formats in Qld. Judging from the recent posts in the state title threads there seems to be a great potential to get a genuine Qld series going, and from my limited exposure to racing there is obviously enough high quality riders in NQ, CQ and SQ. As I've seen in other posts it needs to be roughly 6 rounds and to cover NQ/CQ/SQ to get real participation from all areas. It seems obvious to me that 2 rounds in each region would make the travel a fair thing on everybody involved and hopefully bring out the genuine racers who would like to get behind this great sport that seems to have exploded in recent times. Would like to see this thread take of and bring out some good ideas. If there is enough interest in this maybe we could have some sort of get together in Roma. Even if your not coming to Roma your feedback would be appreciated so maybe we could be racing in a town near you shortly ! _________________ 10 LTR 555 Dingo

Sounds like a great idea Dingo, there are several clubs between Blackwater and Townville that would hold rounds. Would be good to get something organised early so that people can make plans.
I would think 2 Classes to start with - clubmen and expert then build as we get the numbers.
I know for sure that a lot of guys from up this way would have done the super 8 series if there had been a round or two out of the SE corner.
Might be a good idea for everyone to join QQRA, we could have a CQ and NQ chapter! Hopefully this would share the workload as organising these things usually comes down to the dedication of one or two people - team work is always better. |

The good thing about the QQRA is they are MA affiliated and make these events happen, the down side is with the size of QLD , unless you are inside the pizza delivery service it doesn't prove finacially viable to attend the meetings in the middle of the week to voice your opinion [6 hours travel personally ]. Now out here we still receive mail by carrier pigeon , but with today's mind boggling technology would it be possible to host one of these meetings live via webcam or livechat .
I am a financial member of the QQRA and feel I let the club down by not participating in the Chinchilla round of the Super 8 series due to personal unforseen circumstances , and this resulted in bad press for the West, but my motivation to assist in the growth of the sport remains the same .
Due to our 1 quad every 100 km ratio we can't offer many competitors , but we do have an awesome venue for the north and south to battle on commonground |

I was thinking that the different areas could do there own thing but being a chapter of the QQRA would give the affiliation, bargaining power /credibilitywhen dealing withlocal clubs etc. Then if a series was to be organised each area could organise their own two rounds rather than 1 or two people trying to organise the whole lot.
Quad riders tend to talk a lot about wanting to race etc but most think that someone else should organise everything for them if everyone did a bit surely we could pull something off |

I agree, that'd would be a good way to run a series .
Does anyone from the QQRA have any suggestions or objections |

Sounds good. I like the sound of what 450yam is saying. Pretty simple. I will get some riders/racers.organisers from WA notified about this thread because they seem to have this sort of stuff sorted over there. Maybe they can offer a few tips. _________________ Mic

Ill do what I can t help, but I am only 16and stillin school so Im not to sure how many peoplewould actually seriously take the time to listen to me over the phone and what not. Next year I will either be on my mates farm in CQ or starting my apprenticeship with Dad. If I do the apprenticeship Ill be everywhere and anywhere around the place with some sort of a quad. Always keen for a bit of a drive and racing. _________________ Mic

I would say that this topic could be bought up at a meeting and discussed but it would be the new 08 committee that would have to organise it. Any members who cant attend the meetings can email thru any topic they wish to have put forward or you can phone us at the time of the meeting also.
