I just use a Chest and back protector for racing and then use elbow and forearm guards for enduro's, That's just me though as I don't like to be restricted when I am riding and from experience some other armors can do this _________________ Andrew |

I've got a troy lee design full armour protector which is VERY comfortable, but doesnt have the protection like the new EVS(brand name) protectors. If there comfy i would buy one of those about $200 bucks, has better chest protection and bigger back protector cant have enough protection from a 170kg quad landing on ya |

After my 'off' at Tamworth , I recommend ANY body armour. Im sure the borrowed suit i was wearing saved me from serious injury. Im about to get a Alpinestars suit(Rrp-$299)as i find them the most comfy with a 'turned out' lower end on the spine protector(which i think is compulsary for most racing & it zips off the rest of the suit so i can wear it under my road bike jacket ) which doesnt dig into my lower back/ass like the borrowed one & the otherbrand new ones Ive looked at.-Ps-I esp didnt like the 6-6-1s as the chest plate was only the thick rubbery type/not much prot from rocks or a handle bar or branch etc. _________________ Cheers-Redted. 04 Raptor |

Ive got six six one,but its a bit bulky for MX so Im getting Danese full suit as there back protector covers neck to tail bone and it is fairly comfortable ,just in case you get to wear a bumper ! _________________ Cheers

I don't race so... does that mean I dont need body armour? I asked the guy who sold me my banshee at bullet bikes and he said I didnt need it. I'm going to get a kidney belt though... _________________ stock 07 shee |

Nah...EVERYONE should wear armour of some sort.
Had a stack not that long ago and not a scratch, bruise any injury where my armour protected me although you could see all the sracthes on my armour where the quad ran over me. I crashed in my backyard where i never thought it would be capable of crashing, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOUR GOING OVER THOSE BARS !!! |

I agree with todd
BUY IT and WEAR IT
the day you dont is the day you will crash, ive had a bruise on my back the exact same shape as my back gaurd and i reckon if i wasnt wearing it i might have broken my spine, since then i dont care f it is a little uncomfortable (which they all are when you first put them on) im wearing it better to be uncomfortable and walk away than go in an ambo. yeah its a pain to wear it but after a while you dont even notice you've got it on.
just make sure you get one that fits you properly. _________________ say NO! to ball sports |

The more protection the better. Don't be shy with the cash. Get the best you can pay for & wear it. Don't forget the knees while your shopping.
I went over the bars & landed on my back. My 661 suit that cost $200 probably saved me a minimum of a week off work.
I am not saying 661 is the best, but I wouldn't be afraid to spend more next time.
One of the girls ripped the knee out of her pants in a stack on an easy trail. Lucky she was wearing knee guards. Scars don't wear well on chicks.
Happy shopping

the more protection the better, and if you are competing remember elbow guards have been in the GCR's since at least 2004 as mandatory for all competition
the oneal underdog is not restrictive but i cant say i've tried any others though |

When (not if) you have an off ... as you fly through the air (I hit a tree stump as this was happening) ... all you will think about is ... did I put my protection on ...
The golden rule between my mates and I ... "The more you can put between you and the ground, the less it will hurt!!"
I had another off ... yes I seem to spend more time looking at my quad coming to hiy me than I do riding it ... I hit a rut, and a bolder ... quad stopped, I didnt, went over the bars and landed on my knees infrount of the bike ... as few seconds later, waiting for the pain, there was none ... thanks to my knee guards!!
So the rule works! _________________ Mikey got 3rd in the Nationals!!

| Just bought the recently released Thor pressure suit IMPACT RIG SE for my son Cam. one of the best I.ve seen to date and even fits OK with his Leatt brace [ most wont ] . EVS make some good stuff, Troy Lee is coming out with a armour to suit the Leatt, but not available yet. The IMPACT SE has flexible spine, kid. belt, arm and shoulder protector, chest plate and seems to have a low irritant mesh. |

I bought a kidney belt and a shift upper torso roost deflector today. Just a quick question, are these things meant to be worn on the inside or outside of your jersey _________________ stock 07 shee |

hi guys
let me tell ya something , i was,nt wearing any armour when i stacked me ltz400 now i,m payin for it, punctured lung 8 ribs with multiple breaks broken fingers broken collar bone not to mention the other injuries . add to that 4 days in intensive care on life support then moved to another part of the hospital for cardio care then somewhere eles for this and for that ,
so , if anybody is to ask you about wherther ya need armour then the answer is ( if ya feel like ya tough enough to handle the pain and ya say yes then ya deserve to feel what it feels like. it is now 5 weeks after my prang and i still cant walk unassissed i,m still on heavy pain-killers my fingers wont work properly my sholder is still stiff and sore my chest kills me to cough or sneeze , i could go on.
the choice is easy!!!!!! do ya feel brave or do i not want to feel what that idiot is going through,
yes to any form of armour

I agree with everyone that says buy AND wear armour. I came off my quad about 9 weeks ago. I torn a groin muscle and shoved my collar bone into my breast bone which have almost healed but the bruised spine is still give my problems(I had no body armour on). My elbow guards and knee guards stopped any injury in the protected areas I'm sure.
Spending hundreds of dollars on safety gear for the quad like nerf bars, kill switch, handle bar pad work great while you are on the quad, but don't do anything once you come off.
I've learnt my lesson and before I ride again I will be buying body protection. _________________ Ive heard that sound before and this is going to hurt |

O.K,, after all the talk of different armours I have decided to buy a pressure suit and give it a try, feels better than just the other armour I have but the true test will be after a few hours riding.
As mentioned nearly everywhere, you can never have too much protection. _________________ Andrew |
