I have stock suzuki rims and have got a buckle/dent in the lip of the rim, that was caused by rocks. The tyre has not gone down so it hasn't broken the bead, but the lip is pushing on the side wall of the tyre. The dent has basically flatten a section of the lip which is normally rolled. The damage is quiet large and I am worried that if I get the rim repaired it will weaken it. So I am wondering weather it is worth fixing the rim or replace it. If I replace it can someone recommend a rim that has better lip protection against rock damage, or is it more to do with the tyre design than rim design.

hey ryan, stock rims are notoriously hard to get re-rolled owing to the rolled edge part of them being hollow, havine said that it depends on how far in the damage goes as to whether any rim can be repaired or not. If your worried about bendin them I'd go for some Douglas Yellow Label rolled edge rims, the edge is rolled against itself and not hollow so they are very strong, most good cross country tyres have a rim protector like the ITP GNCC's. _________________

thanks for that Pete. I think I will be getting new rims. I think the damage is to much to fix, some wheel repairers were hesitant on repairing and couldn't guarantee the wheel would turn out ok.
Silly question but do you sell the yellow labels and what would be the cost including postage on just the rims to postcode 4306. What is the weight difference between the yellow labels and the stock rims.
Thanks for your help
