Probably won't get any bites here but is there any one interested in giving dirt track a go. I think we have 5 entries at the moment but the more the merrier.
Entries for rd 2 close last mail friday though they normally allow late entries for us.
cost is $55. Rd 2 is at Acusa Park Harrogate on the 27th of May.

Dirt track racing is an exciting branch of motorcycle sport for the off-road enthusiast. It's conducted on closed tracks that can be up to 1800m long and various shapes with left and right-hand bends. The surface can be graded dirt or grass. All you need to get started is a motocross bike or more specialised dirt track machine called a slider, and the appropriate riding gear.

hi donna,
I haven't checked but the points should be on the motorcyling sa website under dirt track discipline. They posted them there last year.
Lucky won all 3 races, I got second all 3 races, I'm not sure how everyone finished in each race behind me though. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

the maximum capacity for a 4-stroke engined quad shall not exceed 700cc and be no more than 2 cylinders and a 2-stroke engined quad shall not exceed 550cc and be no more than 2 cylinders. rule 22.2.1 2007 Manual of Motorcycle Sport.
if you exceed these capacity restrictions then it would be no.
you could definitely enter it in non-MA events like Ponde Sand Drags _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

almost all motorcycle racing events are run under MA jurisdication as they provide clubs with the insurance necessary to cover the club, riders and landowners etc in the case of a death or injury during an event.
I can't see the rule being changed anytime soon to accomodate much bigger capacities than as it currently stands, and if so probably only to accomodate new commercially manufactured models, not one-off customs.
It always pays to check the rules first, its much easier to meet the rules than get them changed to suit. They have rules like this in place to try and keep competition fair so winning does come down to your bank balance, although it always will to an extent.
You might be able to enter it in legal off-street drags at AIR, though I'm not sure if they'd allow quads. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

thanks for the info..
i didnt build it to compete,
i built it for my own twisted amusement.
So no loss.
Is the Finke a MA event or can i enter that next year?
Im sure i could give those Buggys a push along.... |

| again even camp aways are covered by an MSA permit so machines must comply. that's why an R1 powered raptor was turned away a coupla years ago. the permits are applied to the events so as to take advantage of insurance cover for both participants and property owners. |

Hey Dangerman, You'll have to invite the QRSA up to your joint at Finniss.
That way the rest of us can organise MA cover and you can ride what you like on your own property as long as we are not engaged in a race event.
I'm sure lots of us would like to see the beast go. _________________ Can-Am X Team
