Hi All,
New here, and thinking of importing an LT500R (quadzilla) from the US to match my LT250R... Anyone know of any 500's in Aus and if there are any bad years or particular issues to look out for.
P.S , have a good ride area near Wollongong to explore, any locals feel free to PM and we'll arrange an afternoon out. _________________ 2010 Polaris 500 H.O 4x4 - Stock for now |

There were a fair few sold in Australia, they pop up in the classifieds every now and then. Last one I saw they were asking the high fives for, but that was a couple of years ago now. I'm sure you would be able to track one down in Australia before you would have to resort to importing one from the states.
I think they were only on the market for a few years 87 (released just after the Banshee) thru to about 90. but I'm not too sure on that one, maybe it was only two years. Big mothers with heaps of power, sort of like a DS650 but with a much lower center of gravity. Far from agile but made up for that with a strong touqey motor. The 88's had a carby change from 87 to 88, I don't know why. I'd try and get the 88 for no other reason than it had the second year updates, even though there were very few changes.
Can't see finding spares for them that easy to come by. Suzuki never made a big bore two stroke single in thier bikes so thats a bit of an issue in regards to parts. _________________ State governments give us REC rego + area to ride ATVs legaly! Just dragged out my 1989 march issue of dirt wheels, there was an 89 model 500, so they were on on the market for at least three years _________________ State governments give us REC rego + area to ride ATVs legaly! Thanks for the info . From what I've read they also had a 7 stud head im 89 which was apparantly stronger. From my research I could land one here in very good condition for $4500, and parts seem to be easy to get a hold of in the states. US ebay always has heaps of stuff new and people wrecking bikes so I wouldn't be too worried there.
I've seen a couple of you guys on here have very nice LT250's, I love them, sort of retro, simple yet hardcore !! _________________ 2010 Polaris 500 H.O 4x4 - Stock for now |

Not yet mate, I think the fourfiddy is going to be my flat track demon for a bit I reckon. Its got the 12.5:1 in it now and sounds real snappy, I've got all the lowering blocks, ten inch rear rims and a snazzy sticker kit to fit on it along with trip to the powdercoater.
It will be a shame to sell it after all the work I've put into it. But unfortunatley, unlike yourself, I'm going to have let one of my babys go because I can only fit two quads in the trailer. Sooner or later its the YFZ or, dare I even say it, the KXT on the chopping block. _________________ State governments give us REC rego + area to ride ATVs legaly!
