Hi fellas,

Any ideas how to verify if a quad bike is stolen? From what I can see REVS check required engine number/vin number and rego number.

Ask the person selling it for proof of ownership and ask them who they bought it from. They should at least have a receipt. Otherwise I would not touch it.

Also, 9 times out of ten, if someone is selling a quad they will have spare parts like extra filters that go with with it. If someone is selling a quad and they have nothing else, then you need to ask yourself.

How close are thier eyes together?

about the best way is to ask for vin / chassis number, if they show any reluctance, move on.

So I take it there is no method of checking if a quad has been reported stolen? Fairly obvious suggestions, appreciate your help anyway.

Have a talk to your local Plod, have a feeling that REVS has now changed, and covers more than just cars ... give the department of Fair Trading a call, they run the system.

there is a stolen dirt bike register. not overly comprehensive for the number of dirt bikes/atv's that are stolen in australia every year but if its on there it'll be stolen
