One for the girls out there... Confused
What do you recommend when it comes to body armour for females?
Obviously need to try it on but can anyone recommend one brand over another?
Also have to consider fit with Alpine Star neck brace...
Like the look of Acerbis Koerta MX Armour...but has anyone worn one?

Confused Confused

I have an alpinestar neck brace and have just bought the new troy lee design chest protector.
Try this link to see what it's like, but my best advise is to take your neck brace down to your local bike shop and try them all on and see which protection you think feels the best.

Good luck

MrsB uses a few different types, but does not really rave about any of them.
We have not commented because you could probably do with better advice Smile

Just to clarify: when you ask about "armour for females" is your search in relation to overall size & fit (ie. somewhere between a small mens and a large kids) or is it in relation to chest shape???

If it is about overall fit:-
Alpine Star make a womens version of their pressure suit which does bridge the gap in size between the juniors and the mens. It also has subtle chest shaping. I'm a womens size 6 and i wear the Alpine Star kids large Wink And i don't wear a neck brace so i can't comment on that.
The Acerbis Koerta Lady looks like it is much better designed than the Alpine Star.

If it is about chest shaping:-
Don't waste your energy searching for one with lots of room in the chest as there is a very good reason that they don't exist!
Years ago when i started racing i was so frustrated by the seeming lack of comfortable womens body armour i decided to do something about it. Being a size EE cup you can imagine how squashed i felt in kids armour! So when i got sponsored by Troy Lee Designs, i spoke directly to one of the blokes in R&D about the issue. He explained to me that the reason womens armour has only minor "purely cosmetic" shaping in the chest is because any more than that would cause the impact energy to transfer to the outer contact points of the plate - causing injury to the lower ribs and collar bones. So the constant discomfort is a trade-off against the potential of serious injury.

I have been working in a bike shop in Tas for a few years on and off.
We have sold a few sets of Womens Thor Quadrant armour with good feedback.
Here's the link to the site page:

I run the Abercis Armour and I also brought the alpine star neck brace and found it doesn't fit very well and is really uncomfortable. I found the Leate ones fit really well but im going for the troy less design ones too. I have just ordered one. they are twice the price but it feels soooooo much better and actually fits. Hope this helps you.
