Hey, I couldn't find a 2 wheeler site so I thought I could post it here.
anyway
yeah I ride a 250cc 2 wheeler now and its not fast enough anymore
so the bikes I have chosen to compare are; I will be riding it on the road when I get my license (not for a few years though) and in trails not to much open roads for flat out. So the road registrable thing isn;t really and issue but it would be nice to have, but doesn't matter.
So the jump from a 250 to a 450 is significant but I ride 650's and 700 quads. so power can be handled but I was wondering as well as the things below, is the WR450F better out of the lot because it can be upgraded cheaper? where as a YZ450F can't be transformed into a trail bike cheaply? lol so what im saying is, will the wr450f be enough for me as even if I want more power I can upgrade it to make it faster?
Yamaha WR450F
Yamaha YZ450F
Suzuki RMX-450Z
Suzuki RMZ-450
so the pros and cons.
WR450F can be road registrable, has electric start and a kick stand straight away. Not fuel injected.
YZ450F can't be road registrable, only kick start and no stand but has plenty of power. Not fuel injected.
RMX-450Z can't be road registrable, electric start as well, don't know about the stand? Fuel injected as well.
RMZ-450 can't be road registrable, has kick only? no stand. Fuel injected.
Which would be better? I am considering the WR450F out of these the most but the non fuel injection is bothering me, will it be that much of a hassle? I don't mind waiting for it to warm up.
What is the best for me? price isn't really an issue but I want it to be fun and not have to much hassle. As said before I will be riding in trails so would the YZ be good or the WR / RMX?
Thanks.

| Rego is the only must have if you want an enjoyable weekend ride. WR450 gets my vote. Check out KTM & Husky too. |

I don't want to touch KTM, bad experience in the past and their are a lot more expensive. Husky's aren't to bad but I would like to stick with the suzuki, yamaha and honda range.
Thanks, could you please explain why the WR450F is your vote? |

Rego, but I would have chosen a Honda if it was on your list.
The other bikes are more hard core but ony because they cant be registered. I would rather a slightly used WR or CRF450X and then use the money saved for mods than buy a new bike that can't be registered. |

What do you mean rego? as in road rego or trail rego because where I go rego isn't needed. but anyway which is better WR450F or the CRF450X? is the CRF450X fuel injected ( the 2005 - 2008 models)?
Well to the honda, only a 2005 - 2008 CRF450X can be road registered.
so anyway now to the question, is the WR450F a better option even though it is slower than a YZ450F? or will it not matter even if it is slower because of me only riding a 250cc now? As I said I ride in trials, not really to open but has some open straights.
So what wins: WR450F or a CRF450X? based on what pros and what cons?
Thank so much for this by the way. |

If i was buying another enduro bike it would be either a Ktm/Husaberg or Husky or GasGas 300cc 2 stroke.... _________________ Phil..... |

The only thing is the ute I am getting (cause I can't tow on my p's) has a tray size of 2193mm and the YZ is 2194mm. The CRF450X is 2179mm, the RMX450Z is 2185mm and the WR450F is 2315mm.
WR450F is not fuel injected. Can be road registrable.
RMZ450X is fuel injected. not registrable.
CRF450X is not fuel injected. Registrable.
Ridden Yamaha's, Suzuki's and Honda's before but the honda was a XR80 and the Suzuki was a Quad sport 250. The yamaha was a YZ250F.
Which is the better bike? Only the 2012 WR450F models are fuel injected. I don't want to spend that much though. Especially the trails I ride, I wouldn't want to do anything bad to it.
I want the power, would Lithgow's trails be kind to a YZ450F?
Or should I be safe and go for the WR450F or the other variants? |

Not really, as said before I don't want to spend this much on a bike on a brand I didn't hear about only till recently.
between the;
WR450F: enduro bike
YZ450F: mx bike
RMX450Z: enduro bike
RMZ450: mx bike
CRF450X: enduro bike
CRF450: mx bike
Which is the best for trail riding / fast riding along some straights in Lithgow? The mx bike's or the enduro bike's?
Thanks guys in this thread for the help so far, as I said fuel injection doesn't matter to me that much but it would be nice, needs to handle some rough conditions but I want the power of a YZ450F.
Should the YZ450F and RMZ450 be fine for trail riding? |

whichever one you get make sure its got electric start. had rides with mates on two wheelers before where once they drop their bike a few times and its getting a bit later in the day it takes a few more kicks each time to start. takes a lot of the fun out of a days riding for them.
also you should sit on each of the ones you are looking at and test ride if pssible to see which one feels more comfortable. they will all have slightly different seating positions/control locations and you should find that one will stand out above the others for comfort. in real terms for the average rider you won't get the top performance out of any modern dirt bike so performance wise itll really come down to how comfortable you are and how used to the bike you are as to which one is faster. |

Enduro bike would be much better than an MX bike to ride in the bush. MX bike suspension, gearing and power delivery will not work as well as a dedicated Enduro for the type of riding you are talking about.
Electric start when you are stuck half way up a steep hill or in the middle of a creek is also gold.
Don't rule out Husaberg or KTM. Husaberg (owned by KTM) have won most of the Enduro shootouts in the Australian Dirt Bike mags over the past few years. |

Mate ya got to compare apples for apples!!!
If rego is not required as you said ina previous post go a YZ, CRF or RMZ
but if you need road rego go the CRFX or WR
You are on a budget so if you need rego you won't get fuel injection, no rego and you want fuel injection you will pick up a RMZ for good money.
All the bikes you have listed or looked at are good for trail riding but the trail bikes are no good for racing so you need to work out what ya want to be doing.
Don't worry about the size of ya ute as a bike will fit in any ute on an angle!!
My choice with or without rego would be a good condition second hand CRF or CRFX ya can't beat the honda for reliability!! _________________ The main thing is to have fun I just think second place is no fun

So in saying all of that are you saying that YZ450F/RMZ450/CRF450 will be able to handle trail riding? |

I am now deciding between;
Yamaha YZ450F 2010 (has Fuel Injection) @ $7,000 (In NSW)
Suzuki RMX450Z 2010 (has Fuel Injection) @ $6,950 (In Victoria)
Yamaha WR450F 2010 (has no Fuel Injection) @ $8,300 (In NSW)
The RMX and WR have electric start over the YZ.
The RMX and YZ have Fuel injection over the WR.
Are RMX and YZ are faster than the WR?
I mean is it really that much of a hassle to not have an e-start? The trails aren't that bad (not to many inclines), the owner said his bike only takes him 2 kicks to start it anyway cause its Fuel injected. |

I'm pretty much set on the YZ450F or WR450F or a raptor
my uncle has a raptor 700r se and it fly's man
Would love it but need to know if it will fit in my VY ute.
Hence the 2 wheeler choice and no I can't get a trailer because I want to just go by my self or with a mate and not need to have my full license if you were wondering.
The only thing pushing me towards the YZ450F is that the 2010 model I am looking at second hand has Fuel injection. That in its self made me want it but it doesn't have an e-start :S The YZ should handle what I throw at it right? just maybe adjust the stiffness of the suspension and I'm right to go right? |
