Before we go having heated discussion of the pro's and con's of hybrids etc. I thought a poll of the people who would be interested ,if the rules were changed ,that would participate in this class.

Would really appreciate some feedback!!!

thanks scotty

I have a kfx450 roller, would cost me under 5k to turn into a jnr racer.

I'm not willing to spend 15k on a Apex.

It can only grow the sport by making it cheaper, There are so many quads that have blown motors that have been sold cheap, its a no brainer.

We will be there racing on a KFX 250.

I would buy a Apex and race if I had the money.

But if I could do it cheaper I would with a older 450 and replace it with a 250f for a much cheaper cost.

this will kill the sport.

if U haven't already worked out 2011 rule changes killed junior racing therefore killed it for famlies.....

Racing quad numbers fell major, yet 2 wheelers grew...

How about trying to get normal kids and families out there.... that will grow the sport.... Like "Bring a buddy days" they ride for free ...get them hooked, then see how much money dads got.

There should NOT be rules and clubs for 3 kids and there rich dads. OR build tracks for 1 Kid but sends 4 others to hospital.....

Who knows when Yamaha, KTM and likes will bring out 250s ... The apex might be cheap??? and better????

Think about the Cobras .... best there was .... all those cobras will get sold cheaper 2nd hand to the next generation of kid racer .... then when he grows out of it ...sold again cheaper......affordable Now....Get it ....

My 2 cents

Well Im in for a hybrid Very Happy
What would be good is if the Apex had the same motor mounts as a yz450 motor.

Hybrids maybe one solution to tall/oversized junior riders on undersized /underpowered quads.
However another idea would be to allow junior riders once they turn 15 yrs of age and who in the opinion of a MA accredited coach is capable of handling a 450cc quad be allowed to compete in only the clubman class.
They do so until they turn 16 yrs of age where the can then choose to stay in clubman or move up if their ability allows.
The 12-16yrs 200-300cc remains as is and junior riders can have the overlap i.e. 9-13yrs,12-16yrs ,15yrs-clubman.
Once the move is made to the older class the 15yrs rider should still have the option to ride in the junior class.
This is done in AMX with the under 19 class .
GCR 17.12.1.1/17.12.2/17.12.3
They compete with an endorsed MA National junior license.
It is also done in speedway[19.11.6.2] but only as a demonstration.
Hopefully what this will do would be to give some of the 6' plus 15 yrs old a chance to compete on quad without hitting their knees on the handle bars.
Let's call it a safety issue.
What this will do will encourage these older juniors to stay racing rather than opt out of racing i.e selling their raptor 250's now and sitting out for 12 months until they are 16yrs and can LEGALLY race a 450cc quad.
A few have already done this and are awaiting the outcome of the hybrid discussion before purchasing another quad.
Most will buy a 450 and wait until they senior and just trail ride or compete in none sanctioned events.

Just a thought...........

Ide like to see that you could put a 250cc into a 450cc quad or even a 250cc out of a two wheeler. As long as its the same brand as each other an allso if that rule went through make it allso they could ride a 250r two stroke.

why not have diferent classes, mind you the age grouping will stay the same though

class 1 90-125 OEM
class1a 90-125 just a pipe and jetting

class 2 200-300 OEM
class 2a 200-300 pipe aqnd jetting no flash suspension set ups.
class 2b 200-300 what ever you want (cheque book racing) and simple as that,

and the richest parents can do what ever they want and the parents that cant afford the top end of the sport can go and do real old fashion racing with the bulk of the kid riders.

we cant fill the classes we already have so more classes isnt the answer however there is an issue with the larger kids. I honestly feel that who rides what is irrelavant. the fast kids will always be fast and we should encourage any bike to be ridden. But save the serious racing and spending for the senior classes
