Hi all,
Thought I might add to the mix, a little info for the SXS mob. There are a few of us here around Sydney, currently trying to get off the ground, with some success I might add, some sxs racing events for those who have the bug.
We are currently running Khanacross and Motorkhana events locally and on the central coast with the assistance of some keen car club officials and members. We have been warmly welcomed by all, and have now CAMS accreditation , and a class to run in for both events
.Pretty much a standard fit out SXS, with the addition of harnesses ,side nets, fire extiguisher and an approved helmet. It is no pressure racing with the emphasis of having fun and driving your SXS like you stole it.!
Kids are also most welcome, and it is possible that you can sit in with them whilst juniors, and give them instruction.Great driver training for the young ones working towards handleing a vehicle in the dirt, and later on the road.It is a family welcome deal.
It is something to add to the various Winch challenge,Thumb Pump,Cobar type events, which we have all run,but throws up another challenge, and chance to spend a little time behind the wheel. We are all having a ball ,pitting ourselves against the clock, on the short rally type runs of the Khanacross, and the tight, twisty, do your head in courses set out in Motorkhana.
There is pretty much an event to run every fortnight if your keen, and the clubs are slowly getting their heads around the fact that we have our own CAMS class, and the more we show up, the more accepted we have become.
So, the invite to come and give it a go is out there...somewhere to give your vehicle a run for a day, and bring the mob with you.
Please PM me if you require any more info. You will require a CAMS 2NS licence,a Cams affiliated club membership, but it is no big deal and all downloadable, with no hoops to jump through.
It is non denominational, RZR's, Rinos,Canams, Teryx,Mules,...you get the picture!
See you on the track!

Great to see Mick and glad to hear there are a few Privateers getting out there and supporting it. Hope we have something running club level here soon that we can support it by way of an interstate challenge events and so on. We just need to peel a few more of our racers out of their couches and into their entries.

Be good if someone could post what is and is not allowed in terms of the CAMS requirements for the classification we'd be running in. Such as at the Thumbpump event anyone who had done any modifications at all required a 6 point cage but those who hadn't and had a ROPS approved cage (XP's and Commanders) could race stock.

So would stock Teryx and Rhino who dont have a 6 point or ROPS be allowed to race?

Would a upgraded XP be allowed to race?

What upgrades are allowed and not allowed in general terms?

Also what parts are required or allowed to be removed?

The more general but accurate information we can get out about what it takes to compete, the more we can get people interested in thinking "hey its not too hard to meet that requirement" and then get them looking at specific rules and becoming part of clubs and building a community culture for owners!

Well done again Mick.

Gavin
