Well slowly but surely competition options for RZR owners are growing. Not sure if anyone had heard or not but a couple of RZRs came 3RD and 11TH OUTRIGHT, (1st in class 7), at a recent round of the NSW Off Road Series near Kempsey. And of course a RZRs came 3rd in Class 7 at the Finke. Well done to all.
We are still working on consistent mod rules for MA, CAMS and CCDA but now we have at least got units competing we can now force the issue with the governing authorities to make it clear and simple (and hopefully not to expensive) to comply and go racing.

No Mick we didn't compete. The two RZRs were from QLD, I know the competitiors from the Winch Truck comp scene. We are trying to get our two ready for Cliffhanger in July then we might have a go at the Warialda round of the NSW OR Series in September. I could only imagine how Cody would have gone over at Kempsey in his XP.......3rd place alone already has tongues wagging.
Although they meet the requirements for Class 7 (Production 4wd) I am not sure how long the Class 7 boys will put up with competing against them, especially if they start to win events on a regular basis. But given it appears CAMS wants to reduce the number of classes not increase it, Class 7 looks like where they will end up permanently I think.
I still believe there will be some roll cage issues to sort yet though.

Yes the roll cages are still an issue. They where nearly not going to let them compete at Finke .... it was close. Not sure if people have seen photos of the mods that were done, I will try and post some up, but the cages alone knocked about 10 to 15 kph of the top end due to the weight.
As Phil as already mentioned, there are a number of people in the offroad scene who are not happy with these racing in class 7. On one of the offroad forums there is a thread devoted to them "who laughed to early award" as there was a lot of talk about golf buggies and people yelling "fore" at them every time they went past. hahahaha
I did mention to a few people at one race meet that I couldn't wait until someone turned up in a 900 XP as they would give some of the buggies a run for their money, including me hahaha.
It is good to see these things out there having a go and mostly the drivers and navis having fun. |

Thats excellent news to have them competing in Class 7 in both motorkhana in NSW, I haven't seen it in Vic yet, don't know about Qld or others, but then to have them in Finke under the same Class.
I wonder then if anyone has a incling of whether they are going to or able to compete in the Australian Safari, whether the Can Ams and others qualify etc.
Try and catch some people and find out some facts and gets people out of their backyards and into some events.
Fantastic news and well done to people who have been able to compete in various races/events about the place. _________________ www.asho.com.au for your shooting and outdoor needs

It's not a full on event for the SXS more of a demonstration comp and the other guy help run it, is away running his event and will be back next week. So just looking for interested riders at the moment so I can talk to them about it and get them to come look at the track to see if it suits them.
Yes it the old Styletreme track, which is the 4wd track during the expo.
I'm just trying to help promote SXS racing, and have kicked in the sponsorship. |
