No, I don't have any! I'm thinking of upgrading and was wondering what inherent problems the big Yammy 700 has?

I know they are a bit narrow, and the shocks need work, but I just wanted to know if they have any common engine or trans problems.

I owned a 07 which never let me down. I could never get the rear suspension right even though I ugraded to Elka. I know many guys with 700's that have never missed a beat. But when they do go wrong they do it properly.

i have the 09 model 700 raptor and cant fault it awsum machine. The shocks are fully adjustable and if u do any mods to it u dont need a fuel tuner as its all done thru the computer on the dash.found that out after yamaha pulled my bike apart trying to find the plug for the computer and realised they had the 08 model manuel.im waiting on a manuel for my self so i can tune it properly with out taking it to them.they did show me how to give it more fuel or less fuel and when i changed my muffler i tuned it myself and didnt have a problem.the only drama i have is getting use to the power to quick and i want more.im changing my front sprocket to give it more top end at the moment its good for about 120 kmh which is good the bike weighs 180kg and im not little i weigh 120kg so the motor hauls along nicely pullin 300 kg on its back id luv to see how it went with a light person on it hahaha.hope ive been some help in your decision

laughing laughing laughing What Dazz means is....despite what your dealer has told you, you will need a fuel controller to compensate for any performance modifications you make on your bike. As far as I am aware, none of the current Raptor models are available stock with the ability to adjust the A/F mixture.

well i have done it already and on the advice of luke beachey as well didnt need a controller its all done thru the computer on the dash as i said the mechanic searched for an hour lookin for the plug that previous models had to put the computer on it but after puting the rite program in his computer worked out why it doesnt have a plug. And i do think luke knows what he is talking about as ive adjusted it a few times myself.

Sorry bloke but there is nothing on the Yamaha site that would indicate that the FI system is adjustable. All of the Raptor forums I belong to indicate the same thing and there are quite a number of guys on there with '09 models. I was intending to trade up to the '09 myself but found that other than the rear brake rotor, the dash, and the new graphics, nothing much had changed. Perhaps Luke can shed some light on this for us. Like I said, as far as I am aware this is the case. If not, then you will have saved yourself quite a few dollars for an aftermarket fuel controller and a few hundred yankee Raptor owners will be kicking themselves.

ok ive sat on my bike and gone thru it all as i said it worked for me i havent changed much on the bike except the exhaust and filter but luke did say it should be enough to even handle twin exhaust.i dont think its goin to b able to handle major mods but it was enuf for mine.Ok so when turnin the key on hold down both buttons it will eventually cum up with DIAG on the screen then push top button once it cums up CO then hold both buttons down til C1 appears there will also be a small 0 in top right of screen.then hold both buttons down again and another number appears under the 0 and if u push the top button it goes higher number which is more fuel if u push bottom button it goes lower which is less fuel.Im waitin on a manuel from the dealer coz there is more things in there as ive stuffed up the sequence b4 and got other things on screen.Im no mechanic but this is what has been showed to me if im wrong no probs i stand corrected but why wouldnt there b a diag plug on the bike and why would my bike run fine with exhaust and filter mods after i adjusted it.

Just keep in mind if your rappy poops its self due to been to lean or to rich and you take it back to get it fixed and they find out you have been playing with the fuel mixtures etc i think you can kiss any warranty you have on them bikes good bye Confused

Also with the 08 on 700s you have the little speedo thingy on them , if you change tyers or front sprockets from 14 to 15 etc your speedo will tell you lies when you ride it ..

Luke is confirming the information he passed on to you with some of his contacts at Yamaha. All the feedback I have had from mine is the usual Yamaha guff about modifying the bike and warranty etc which may be the reason that they do not list the adjustable EFI as a feature on their website if you are correct. This is Muzzgit's post and this topic is highjacking it big time. How about someone post this as another topic for discussion so Muzzgit can get the info he is looking for. Then we can all share any findings we have made.

i think u r rite with yamaha not wanting us to know about it my mate at the dealer said the same thing for warranty reasons they dont want u playing around with it.it seems no 1 knows anything about it as when i was changing my exhaust no 1 from here or america could help me so i went on the dealers word and he said if im unsure ring luke who was and has been very helpful top bloke.

Yes you do. Despite what you read above, it is recommended that you install a fuel controller if you make any modifications that will change the A/F mixture. The fuel injection system on the Rappy has not changed in recent years to incorporate the function to change this using the onboard system.

All 09 700 up have this function , however it only mildly adjusts the fuel , to do it properly you still need a fuel controller and preferably a Power commander as they are the only module that I have found gives enough adjustment to fuel a set of duals properly.

They are built with this adjustability to suit the GYTR type slip on pipes etc .

Come on guys , where are all those "Raptor 700 Experts "" out there , you would all know this surely .

This is common knowledge I thought ?

Yamaha jetskis are built with the same functionality (some models)

This was an old post but at the time there was some confusion over the functionality of the onboard system even from our U.S Raptor bretheren. Once everybody got over the initial excitement though it was realised that a fuel controller is still required. Agree on the PC recommendation.

Have had my 09 700 now for just over 18 months, only mod is I pulled the spark arrestor out and with regular servicing the only thing I am about to replace is the handlebar grips, which have worn through on the outer edges fromhanging off the thing sideways. Awesome bike that will go anywhere at anytime. i would agree though the rear rear end is a lil soft for bigger(120kgs) riders like myself. that is my next mod when the bank manager(wife) allows me 1500 to revalve them. definitely not dissapointed with my hard earned going on the higher purchase than the LTZ 400 which was my other option for a general trail riding, dune hacking quad

Yeah got one a few months ago fellas, thanks.

Its a 2006, was absolutely bog stock. The only mod it had is an hour meter with 64 hours on it.

It went straight into Legend Quads and got HEAPS of goodies....

Motor - HMF slip-on, Power Commander, K&N
Front - Snyder +2 A-Arms + braided lines, GTThunder Elite shocks (stock rims/tyres)
Rear - Lonestar +4 axle, GTThunder linkage (stock shock) Kenda Claw's on standard rims
Steering - Rox anti vibe risers, Rox dash panel, block riser + Pro Taper fat bars, Streamline damper
XFR Pro Peg nurf bars XFR front bumber

A big thanks to Brett and Lorene at Legends for helping me find the right quad and also for stopping me spending money on stuff I don't need. great job
