The article/news clip stated he was a very experienced enthusiast. Went for a little ride the day before in the bush. Emergency Services and volunteers searched until dark and a bit. Then resumed the search the next morning, finding him deceased some 3km/h in. They would not speculate as to the cause at the time of interview. Maybe more news will come out soon. I don't know if he was a forum member, but the Newcastle area has a big following on the forum.....

"Death not caused by quad bike: police
Detective Inspector Brett Greentree of Central Hunter police said investigators were "not ruling anything out at this stage", but believed Mr Dawson's death was not caused by an accident on the quad bike.
But he added police had not ruled out the possibility the death may still have been accidental."
The post mortem will be carried out this afternoon, he said.
Inspector Tim Seymour of the Central Hunter police told the Newcastle Herald yesterday it appeared the young man died on Tuesday afternoon or evening."

most of the time rumours are not true, the cause was choking.
Police rule out foul play in quad bike death
BY DAN PROUDMAN AND MARTIN DINNEEN
01 Apr, 2011 04:00 AM
DETECTIVES have ruled out foul play and suicide following an intensive investigation into the death of quad bike rider David Dawson.
Mr Dawson's body was discovered in bushland near Ashtonfield after a large scale search began when the 20-year-old failed to return from a Tuesday afternoon quad bike ride.
Police have also ruled out that Mr Dawson, a popular local apprentice electrician, died after falling from his quad bike.
Homicide detectives were called in to assist in the investigation but have since determined that Mr Dawson's death was not as a result of foul play or suicide. An autopsy revealed he had choked to death.
Central Hunter crime manager Detective Chief Inspector Brett Greentree said circumstances surrounding the death prompted investigators to suspect foul play.
"Certainly there were some elements that were suspicious and we treated it as such but we've received information today that makes us satisfied that it is not suspicious," he said.
Detective Chief Inspector Greentree said investigators had ruled out the involvement of another person in the death.
Speaking earlier, David's mother Helen told the Newcastle Herald the family, including father Martin and two younger sisters Amy and Gabby, were struggling with Mr Dawson's death.
"There is just a big hole," she said. "We're just devastated."
Mrs Dawson said her son was motivated and looking forward to a bright future.
"He was going to pick up his new car on Saturday," she said.
"We were organising his 21st [birthday]. It is six months away but he was thinking about what he wanted to do."
Mrs Dawson said her son was a caring brother, often driving his younger sisters to work and helping his grandmother with household chores.
"He was always thinking of other people and looking out for everybody," she said.
Mrs Dawson said he was close to finishing his electrician's apprenticeship and was to take possession of a work van for his equipment yesterday. _________________ 2012 sponsors, Working on it. |
