In what is possibly the most important news for Australian and world class SXS racing, the FIA have just announced a NEW RACING CLASS for SXS’s!!!

Finally the recognition required to take SXS’s to the world scene has arrived and for Australians we can build up world class equipment ready for any number of races as CAMS now have a set of guidelines they can just adopt.

If you can’t tell I’m excited, I am! 

Hopefully MA do not adopt a SXS class, they definately belong with CAMS.

As most know it is hard enough to get MA to accept quads!

I would thinks its great for a SXS class at our race meets for sure.

MA will never ever do it.

I have letters from MA stating the facts

they will not "insure " a demo even ..

any way lots of luck.... Hope you get it adopted

Infact your not even to use them as tow vehicle ... needs to be scurtineered

I suppose there is rules for some and not others

I agree i reckon SXS should be incorporated into MA it would be great to see some thing different at Race meets.
MA's rule and regs are archaic and have not been adjusted adequately as new products from manufacturers are developed. We have all been exposed to MA's harshness towards the quad fraturnity yet they gladly take the same amount for our licenses. State governments are also to blame by not having one set of vehicle rego rules for the entire country. That coupled with nearly all of the countryside being closed off to vehicle access soon we would need any form of offroad vehicles unless its for looks at the local shopping center. Maybe at the next election we should put forward an anti green party campaining the opening up of australias beautiful countryside for all to see and enjoy

We'll you couldnt and still cant in stock form but the new rules give you the closest opportunity too. CAMS dont have any classifcations for them yet but will be applied for.

MA is the Mob for what? Not quite with youre commentary today Husky. I know the distinctions anyway. I'm just feeling confused if you're saying FIA should be FIM or what?

My belief at this time is SXS will go further than Quads just because they are willing to have an Australia wide organisation and that will them in more established events and into mainstream offroad events.

Maybe one day there will be combined events but I do know from doing some outriding at the Thumbpump that say the distance and amount of whoops in say this years track was just too much so it would an interesting case of track design for even a long course MX track but something like the Condo and Finke are right in the pipeline I guess. Very Happy

It doesnt appear you are listening, they'll be racing iunder CAMS not MA. Thats the whole point of what I posted initially, CAMS take direction from FIA, MA from FIM.

Is your name Bruce Broad?? I dont think it is? in fact I for a fact it isnt bececause it was Bruce Broad I was speaking to prior to Condo about the participation of SXS's and getting it set up for this year.

Appears the only black event is the bruising your giving yourself in the groin area. Take a chill pill Winston....

Hey dude .....You can already race SXS with a CAMS licence and are raced now ....

And whats Winston my Dad got to do with it? did you know him?

Just for your info MA is who quads and Bikes race with. Most bike and quads clubs in Australia are MA. So we can have insurance and race for National Titles... The Bigger more financial clubs in WA NT and Vic Have their own insurance from companies like AON ... These clubs welcome SxS and quads as their not viewed as Aliens or their cousins with two heads. Most SxS owners are very wealthy and aren't afaird to spend cash like water...Hence they have a Razor or 3 and donate Bucket loads of cash to the clubs.. Have a nice day

Hey fellas talking about bucket loads of cash on sxs if you look at the racing in the states with sxs and this is what we aspire to down under they buy sxs then strip them completely re= . design roll cage so it forms a chassis not just sticking thru plastics then spend about 5 to 10k US on mods and then going racing and still the rhino does the best end over end roll over, not to mention snow mobile engines in sxs and turbo's imagine if we were allowed to race at our local club meets

I already know about MA who insures and al this stuff Husky, if you look its not my first post!

I'm in Vic and no SXS allowed at MA events, they were with independant 4X4 club events not under CAMS insurance or classifications, I hope guys wityh independant insurance like you guys in the NT and WA are putting on SXS racing or events, that'd be great.

I know people may think that a SXS is an expensive starting point but we hope to have a proddie class that is just bang the required safety bars on your SXS and go and you cant believe how popular a concept that is to their bigger cousins, many many guys who are running second rate equipment in much more expensive buggy categories. So IF SXS are still being accepted in the ATV ranks we are actually RECRUITING new ATV participants.

I dont know what the end figures will be like but it will be cheaper than running 2-3 quads racing. The SXS MUST have 2 people in them, so switch drivers is required for everyone to have fun in their day or just being a Navi rings your bell you get to participate. So as expensive as people think itr may be cut it in half for the amount of people who get to enjoy the experience.

They have done some wild things in the States but our FIA rules already state the manufacturers engine etc. They are written down in terms of specs to keep costs down and the classification we will seek with CAMS will have many cheap but safe options for racing equally, there will be a ball tearer class for the nutters but whether they will be invited to track meets etc who knows.

We'll just put the classifications out there (including a single manufacturer production class!!?) and invite people to nominate for classes and get ready and then when we have people ready to go and we get invitations we can get it all going like the quads do.

Seems there are a few "elder statesmen" of the Quad persuasion who are looking forward to SXS racing as an "old mans" class of racing!

Apparently there is a CCDA event going on in Tamworth in 15th - 17th October in your backyard Roy.

As it happens I have a buggy for sale that I have been developing throughout the year with Pete W for CCDA. Not done 40 hours yet so ready to rock and roll for you, just may need to run a couple of 6 point bars at least cost to get through scrutineering. I wont be going if its a CCDA as I will be onto something different.

Other than that all winched, barwork, protectivce pans new wheels tyres as per avatar and I think I have a write up in SXS section.

Interested let me know! Very Happy
