This headline just got me to thinking, again, about how people who use the bush contribute to passive community policing.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/08/29/2996596.htm?section=justin
By passive community policing, I mean that the very presence of people in our bushland and forestry reserves and plantations, serves as a deterrant to the many illegal activities that go on.
Arson, illegal dumping, drug crops to name a few.
Please note that I've said deterrant not cure.
It's the cops job to bring the bad guys to justice.
It's the justice system's job to allegedly punish the bad guys.
My question is............................... _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

It's a bit of a loaded question, since the majority of us are riding illegally,
so should the questoin be "would you report yourself for riding an unregistered vehicle in a state forrest/park?" _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.

I can see what your saying Priesty.
You guys aren't allowed rec rego in Vic.
And we've our own issues in QLD...........
But I'm not concerned at all about getting onto the authorities and saying that "I've something to show you up here."
Serious criminal activity shouldn't be ignored.
My point is that as a off-road community, a Law & Order stance is another small arguement to fight closures.
So is local knowledge. Search and rescue needs that.
So is groups helping the authorities maintain fire trails.
Maybe the question should be:
"What are the Green movement trying to hide in the bush? More boat people?"
And no, I wouldn't tell the first copper I saw that "I was speeding but you missed it" _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

where I ride quite often there was illegle tea tree cutting and had been going on for a few months, and I informed the dse of it, they asked how i knew ? and I told straight out how and why I came acros it. And they have been out there to look at it, as a dse sign informingthem they had been there and I did get some follow up saying they had looked into it. And I aint no screaming greenie, mind you they would never of found it because its not the the distance you would want to walk... _________________ 2005 KFX700
