With your Rhino and clutching on any vehicle we expect to meet certain criteria for benefeits and gains ,and that criteria also means not substantial trade offs to achieve the gains. There is also a cost / benefeit factor. There are in fact, times when the factory calibration is done fairly well for the power/gearing/weight ratio that you have to work with .

A complete CVT recalibration on some vehicles,in our opinion,is not necessary. Sometimes there are other fundamentals that may cause issues that some find undesirable,and sometimes a simple spring can help compensate with less side effects,or do as well as a more expensive kit. For instance, on a Rhino,reverse drive gearing is a ratio like high range(many feel reverse should be like low range like other similar vehicles).

Others feel that forward low range is simply not low enough. If a final drive ratio is not in the envelope that the end user expects,we do not like to put any false hopes that re-calibrating how fast the belt shifts will solve all of that.

Sometimes a simple component change like the secondary spring can get you some benefeit ,and at least it is cost effective to do.

Thanks for the info - I probably should have been more specific.
I was looking for a bit more top end and a bit more off the line so I spoke with the lads from UTV Inc over in the states who hooked me up with a msd computer thingy as well as a machined sheave and grease less weights for the primary side and a new spring for the secondary side. ( I found it interesting how the CVT actually works)
Anyway the old rhino now comes off the line quicker and it seems to hook up better and the top speed has gone from 67 kph to 77 kph. Not bad but I now need to add my long travel as it is only a matter of time before I am looking at the world from a different angle hahha

Good stuff Chris, I've been in a Rhino and I know what you mean. The one I've been in is running 27" Swamp Fox's and we sold the owner the metallic blue spring and he's very happy with it, but he uses his as a work vehicle to tow a trailer and he also does low range wheelin.

We are now developing a 'Rock Gear' front bar for it out of alloy. I'll post some photos up once the final bits have been added.

Ahhhh .... the Tyre GOD. Have you spoken to him since the weekend????

Once I get my long travel I will be stripping the front bar and cage off the rhino and fabricating new 6 point cage, front and rear bar along with rock sliders. Looking at using chromo to keep the weight down.

I heard about his little flop this weekend as my wife's car was in getting a service done to it. Roll cages are very valuble if you let him drive it.. lol
