Hey all, Im Russell im pretty new to the whole ATV off road stuff. I know most ppl on here will not agree with me but i am in the process of purchasing a quad off my mate its one of those chinese imports. The reason i am goin to buy it is 1. Its cheap and 2. Its only 6months old and has limited use. Being new on the scene i thought this would be a good start then later on when i want better quality etc i will upgrade.

High Lifter in the States is probably your best bet.

Even with the throttle limit thing on my 110 screwed all the way out it has never been on the rev limiter. Dunno if it even has one lol.

ive ridden my outlaw (irs) up there many times!

looks like a recent photo! bloody rain!

there's a fire trail we're ridding out bluewater and from mt lousia you can ride along the powerlines out to garbut.... but it's hard for a quad (some places are tight!

yeh i have been looking at a hot rods wr crank and cp piston and a few mobs in the states have barrels for a decent price new oem. who replates these barrels in AUS and whats a rough price for it. and who sells hot rods cranks here for a decent price here.
it seized close to the bottom of the stroke, i had only replaced the piston about 10 hours ago and just changed the oil before this ride so i think that may have saved the piston letting go.
but yeh i have seen some good pics of what normally happens and i think i am very lucky. i felt it starting to surge at full revs so i backed off and it locked up.
i think i will do the oil mod now and put in the newer oil pump.

Mate you need to talk to Rams Head Service based in Windsor/Sydney they do excellent work on 4 stroke quads.

hi guys and girls

alot of the junior class has been complaining that we want state rounds or at least 2 or 3
becasue as every one noes this class's bike arnt the most reliable and people have probles on the days and is hard to get a good placing with this

hopefully bethwyn you iwll read this and if you do could we try and work somthing out with mwa or who ever orginises it. like have some rounds.

Take the top cap off the carby. Sometimes there is a cylinder shaped brass spacer around the spring which stops the slide going all the way up and this stops you getting full throttle.

Re building is going to be the cheapest option, hot rods do a rod kit and also a complete new crank, both of which will be cheaper than a new crank from yamaha.

You can get your cylinder repaired and re-coated and it will be better than a new stock one, unless you can get a mega deal on an aftermarket one this will be the cheapest option.

where did the piston stop in the barrel when the crank seized?
Do you know what caused the crank to seize? generally YFZ's don't lock up the bottom so much as nip up the top and rip the bottom out of the piston generally resulting in the rod breaking or bending and coming out the front of the cases so it sounds like you are a little lucky.
